An architect, teacher and experienced pair of eyes.

My interest began when my parents asked an architect to help remodel a house they were buying. A little work experience, followed by a drawing board in my bedroom, set the direction for everything that followed.

I trained in Portsmouth and qualified in 1999. My career has included housing, public buildings and urban design, before my practice increasingly concentrated on homeowners and residential projects. That experience means I can usually see both the possibilities in a property and the practical issues that might otherwise be missed.

Alongside practice, I have taught design at the University of Southampton for around twenty years. Teaching has made me better at explaining design thinking clearly—something that now sits at the heart of my workshops, recorded reviews and YouTube videos.

These consultations are deliberately focused. They are not the start of a sales funnel and there is no expectation that you appoint me for a larger project. You receive an independent, experienced view of the problem in front of you, quickly and clearly.
