No. The Recorded Design Review and Home Improvement Workshop are designed for homeowners considering a home for themselves or their family, rather than HMOs, blocks of flats or commercial development. An individual apartment is absolutely fine.

If you have a plot for a new home, I may be able to offer strategic guidance, but I cannot design an entire house in a 15-minute review. I can also look at a modest garden annexe—for example, somewhere for parents to live—provided you have a focused question and enough information for me to understand the proposal.

Yes. I can compare two properties and give you my view on their main opportunities, limitations and likely potential.

A 15-minute review cannot explore several homes in the same depth as one property, so there may be less time for detailed layout or extension ideas. If you want to discuss the alternatives, ask questions and test ideas for each house, a Home Improvement Workshop will usually be the better choice.

Yes. Send me your own sketch or describe the idea in words. I can explore what it might solve, the trade-offs it may create and the alternatives worth considering. This is independent exploratory design thinking, not a formal review of another professional’s work.

Not while that architect—or another designer—is currently appointed on the project. My professional obligations make it inappropriate to review their design separately while they remain involved.

If the drawings were prepared in the past and the architect or designer is no longer appointed, I can review the design and offer an independent perspective. Although the Architects Code applies specifically to architects, I extend the same professional courtesy to other designers. If you are unsure about your situation, contact me before ordering.

I will respond to what you ask. Sometimes that means reviewing what already exists; sometimes it means sketching an alternative or showing what I think could be done. The result is insight and a direction to explore, not a finished design package.

Once I have received the information I need, I will normally send your private recorded response within five working days. If anything important is missing or the question is too broad for this service, I will contact you before beginning.

You may cancel for a full refund before I begin reviewing your material. If you ask me to begin within the statutory cancellation period and later cancel after work has started, any refund may be reduced to reflect the work already completed. Once the personalised review has been delivered, refunds are not offered simply because you disagree with an observation or decide not to pursue an idea. This does not affect your statutory rights if the service is not delivered as described or with reasonable care and skill.

The £100 review includes one recorded response rather than an ongoing design process. If the issue needs discussion, multiple options or further development, a Home Improvement Workshop will be more useful.
